Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RERALex (the "Platform", "Service", "we", "us", or "our") operated by RERALex Technologies (the "Company"), a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, with its registered office at Mumbai, Maharashtra 400001, India.

By accessing, registering for, or using RERALex, you ("User", "you", or "your") agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. About RERALex

RERALex is a legal research platform providing access to:

  • Indexed judgments from RERA Authorities and Appellate Tribunals across India
  • Search tools across 11 search modes
  • AI-assisted research features (where enabled)
  • Editorial workflows including headnotes, ratio decidendi, and case summaries
  • Knowledge graph and citation analysis tools
  • Bookmarks, notes, alerts, and personalized research workspace

RERALex is a research aid only. It does not constitute legal advice. See Section 11 (Disclaimer).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally competent to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. By using RERALex you represent that:

  • You are a practicing advocate, judge, law student, legal researcher, real estate professional, or member of the public with a legitimate research interest;
  • All information you provide is accurate;
  • Your use of the Platform complies with applicable Indian laws.

4. Account Registration

4.1 Account Creation

You must register an account with accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

4.2 Account Security

You must immediately notify us at security@reralex.com of any unauthorized access. We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to safeguard credentials.

4.3 One Account per User

Each account is for a single individual. Account sharing is prohibited and may result in immediate termination without refund.

5. Subscription Plans, Fees & Payment

5.1 Plans

We offer Free, Basic, Professional, and Enterprise plans. Current pricing is available at https://reralex.com/pricing.

5.2 Payment

Subscription fees are charged in Indian Rupees (₹) and are processed by Razorpay. GST at applicable rates (currently 18%) is added at checkout for users with Indian tax residency.

5.3 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled. You may cancel anytime from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5.4 Price Changes

We may revise prices with at least 30 days written notice to active subscribers. New prices apply on the next renewal.

5.5 Failed Payments

On failed payment, we will retry within 14 days. After 14 days of unsuccessful retries, the account will be moved to read-only access. After 30 days, account access will be suspended.

6. Refund Policy

See our separate Refund Policy for full terms. In summary:

  • Free plan: No refunds applicable.
  • Monthly plans: Pro-rated refund within 7 days of first payment if no significant usage; no refunds thereafter.
  • Annual plans: Pro-rated refund within 14 days of first payment; no refunds thereafter.
  • Enterprise plans: Governed by individual contract terms.

7. Permitted Use

You may use RERALex to:

  • Conduct legal research for personal, academic, or professional purposes;
  • Bookmark, annotate, and export research results within plan limits;
  • Cite judgments using the platform's citation export tools;
  • Share specific judgment links with colleagues (within team plans).

8. Prohibited Conduct

You must NOT:

  • Scrape, crawl, mass-download, or systematically extract data from the Platform;
  • Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to access the Platform without express written permission;
  • Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit Platform content;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code;
  • Use the Platform for illegal purposes, including any violation of Indian laws;
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person;
  • Submit false, defamatory, or infringing content;
  • Interfere with Platform security, integrity, or other users' access;
  • Use AI features to generate misleading legal content presented as authoritative;
  • Bypass any access controls, rate limits, or paywalls;
  • Use a single account for multiple users or organizations;
  • Train AI/ML models using Platform data without written license.

Violation may result in immediate account termination, forfeiture of fees, and legal action under applicable law including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Indian Penal Code.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Platform IP

All Platform technology, software, design, search algorithms, citation systems (including the RLX citation format), knowledge graph structure, editorial headnotes, ratio summaries, and other proprietary content are owned by RERALex Technologies and protected by Indian copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws.

9.2 Source Judgments

Underlying judgments are sourced from official RERA Authority and Appellate Tribunal websites and publications. Such judgments are public domain or government works under Section 52(1)(q) of the Copyright Act, 1957. Original case texts retain their public character.

9.3 User Content

You retain ownership of any annotations, notes, or content you upload. You grant the Company a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and process such content solely to operate the Service.

9.4 Editorial Headnotes

Headnotes, ratio decidendi summaries, catchwords, and editorial annotations on the Platform are original works of the Company and may not be reproduced without written permission.

10. AI Features and Limitations

Where AI-assisted features are available:

  • AI outputs are not legal advice.
  • AI may produce errors, omissions, or factually incorrect statements.
  • All AI outputs must be independently verified against original judgment text and current law before reliance.
  • The Company makes no warranty regarding AI accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular legal purpose.
  • AI features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued without notice.
  • Users should not rely on AI summaries when filing pleadings, drafting opinions, or advising clients without independent review.

11. Disclaimer — NOT LEGAL ADVICE

RERALEX IS A LEGAL RESEARCH TOOL, NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL LEGAL ADVICE.
  • Information on the Platform is provided "as is" and "as available".
  • We make no representation regarding the completeness, accuracy, currency, or fitness of any content for any specific purpose.
  • Users — including advocates, parties, and judges — must independently verify all judgments, citations, sections, and precedents against original sources before reliance.
  • Use of the Platform does not create an attorney-client relationship.
  • The Company is not liable for any decision, action, or omission based on Platform content.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:

  • The Company's aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the total fees paid by the User in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or ₹10,000, whichever is greater.
  • The Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, business, data, or goodwill.
  • The Company is not liable for any adverse legal outcome arising from User reliance on Platform content.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company, its directors, officers, employees, and affiliates from any claim, demand, loss, or damages arising from your:

  • Breach of these Terms;
  • Violation of any law or third-party right;
  • Misuse of Platform content or AI outputs;
  • Misrepresentation in any pleading, opinion, or advice based on Platform content.

14. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:

  • You breach these Terms;
  • We detect suspicious or abusive activity;
  • Required by law or court order;
  • We discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your data will be retained per our Privacy Policy and then deleted, except where retention is required by law.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms with at least 15 days notice sent to your registered email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
  • Subject to Section 17 (Dispute Resolution), courts at Mumbai shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Informal Resolution

Before formal proceedings, parties shall attempt good-faith resolution by writing to legal@reralex.com. The Company will respond within 30 days.

17.2 Arbitration

Unresolved disputes shall be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, by a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement. The seat of arbitration shall be Mumbai, and proceedings shall be in English.

19. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond reasonable control: natural disasters, acts of government, war, terrorism, internet outages, cloud provider failures, pandemics, strikes, or other force majeure events.

20. Severability

If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Service.
